BHUTAN Bhutan “the land of thunderbolt” is yet one of the least heard & traveled. Bhutan is a small country established in the southern foothills of the Himalaya. The serene nature, Dzongs (Punakha Dzong, Paro Dzong, etc.), monasteries (Taktsang Monastery, Kyichu Lhakhang monastery etc), and other Buddhist relics scattered throughout the country are worth appreciating. So many trekking routes including the famous Druk path trek which takes you between the forests of fir, blue pine, and rhododendrons at altitudes ranging between 2400-4200 m and Chele la trek which passes through the high mountain pass to Paro with amazing views of snow-capped mountains and breathtaking views of valleys beneath at an altitude of 4350m.
Bhutan is a heavenly destination for bird lovers and ornithologists. Over 670 species of birds have been recorded till date and countless are yet to be discovered. Nearby 50 species of the known birds are winter migrants. These include ducks, waders, birds of prey, thrushes, finches and buntings.
The rivers, appearing through the valleys from the Himalaya, and enchant with their beauty. The way from Thimphu to Punakha offers a kaleidoscope of scenic beauties of the highest mountain of Bhutan, at a sight that stretches almost 180 degrees.
